Overview
  This is a one year programme following the National Certificate as a pre-requisite and is structured around four (4) study schools of five (5) days each.  Sufficient time is provided between the study schools to support flexibility, access and learner-directed learning.  Candidates can enrol for any one study school at a time and do the others at a time that is convenient for them or can enrol for the full one year programme.  This programme has been structured to promote flexibility and career path progression allowing candidates to choose four required areas of specialisation.

Study School 1:  Skills development facilitation
This study school is especially beneficial to Practitioners who want to develop the Skills Development Facilitator skills.  After this study school candidates will be able to register as a Skills Development Facilitator.

Study School 2:  Interpersonal skills
Teamwork and the ability to harness diversity are essential qualities for any Practitioner. Interpersonal skills become evident in the way language and communication strategies are used in vocational and occupational learning.

Study School 3:  Quality & productivity
Quality is the backbone of any education system.  This study school focuses on the quality of assessments conducted and of the training provided. It also focuses on the improvement of productivity taking into consideration the factors that influence productivity. These factors all contribute to the designing and developing of relevant qualifications for assessment and ETD.

Study School 4:  Evaluation
This study school focuses on evaluating the quality of assessments conducted through the moderation processes.  Here attention is given to the evaluation of services and products provided by training providers for the ultimate benefit of the organisation.  Understanding the importance of maintain a high standard in Education, Training & Development, will influence Practitioners to recruit quality oriented people into the organisation.

Who should attend?
The diploma course is intended for HR and ETD Practitioners across a variety of workplace environments who have completed the National Certificate on NQF level 5.

Entry Requirements:

  •  A minimum of two years of experience in an ETD environment
  • FETC in OD ETD Practices on NQF level 4
  • NCERT in OD ETD Practices on NQF level 5
  • Numeracy & Literacy on NQF level 4                                                         

Recognition of Prior Learning:
Candidates who have completed the full National Certificate course on NQF level 5 will receive recognition of prior learning for the first four study schools and will then be able to start with study school number 5.  Candidates can also apply for RPL for any individual unit standards that have been achieved that forms part of the diploma course.

Assessment and certification:
The training consists of eight study schools for which eight portfolios have to be submitted.  On completion of all eight portfolios, learners will be required to do a final summative integrated assessment. 
A National Diploma: OD ETD Practices – NQF level 5 - 245 credits – NLRD 50333 will be presented to the learners who have achieved the required level of competence.  This Diploma qualifies you to enrol for a Degree in HRD.
